  1. I just saw win home server on newegg tonight for $99.00 and im debating weather its worth it. it has a 8gb mem cap and my rig is at 16 gb now. I will be rung drivepool and scanner with any os I chose but I haven't used 2011 ever. I loved WHS V1 but my current test rig is going strong and im lookin g into a xeon down the road. unless my needs can be met with a simpler machine? all my workstations are win 7 home or win 8.1

    whats my best bet.

also windows 2012 is way overkill for me.

  2. ? about the licence for drivepool / scanner.

I have just under 9 days left. and im planning on buying the $35 combo but if im say not able to buy it for say 10 or 14 day will my pool stop working?

not planning on adding any drive until long after I buy the licence but just double checking...

  3. have a off beat question if u guys can help... I have an Hp Envy 17 inch laptop computer with following specs

I7-4510U dual core at 2.0 ghz

    16gb Samsung ram at ddr3 1600

    256gb Samsung

dedicated 4gb gtx video caand finaly rd

and everytime I access music from my pool windows media player plays music but freezes until it bluscreens and resets back to standard desktop.

    don't no what to do...

  4. the lsi card I found is a 8 port card that runs at pci express 3.0 (LSI00301 (9207-8i) its on sale for 233.99 on newegg and looks perfect. as for the am3 + I was trying to keep that idea so I could just continue with the phenom 2 945 and my gskill 16gb ram kit for now but it MUST be a Micro atx to fit my case. that's the problem. im probably gonna switch to intel socket 1150 because there is much more available in micro format.

how are the as rock boards I found one for 135 that I perfect with 3 pci 16 slots and its got 6 sata 6.0gb/s and it can go all the way to the xeon 1275 I want but ill build with either a Pentium or i3 to start.

  5. hey I have a question about an AMD cpu...how do the socket FM2+  A10-7850K Kaveri core with (4 CPU + 8 GPU cores holdup to be used for Media streaming? its way cheaper than intel and my current phenom 2 945 socket AM3 is awesome but cant find am3 board for my needs don't get me wrong I love the intel xeons but that's A HUGE INVESTMENT for me. the amd is way cheaper and ive had great luck. my current rig is handleing windows 10 without issues but im wanting more sata ports and at least 2 pcie x 16 at 3.0 wich I cant get with my current board.

I stress im not gaming... just windows 10 stablebit drivepool and scanner and possible future stablebit products. maybe anydvd and ihomeserver and a future version of Norton antivirus... that's it.

  6. No problem... your system is solid ... I mentioned the ssd as a future upgrade. I'm running mine as a single drive for the os because there is nothing of importance on it. if the system crashed I reload windows reinstall drivepool and scanner and my data is back. thank you stablebit....(still keep backups)

btw don't run a red as os drive... I tried with the 1 TB 2.5 inch and it was painfully slow..

  7. sweet design for the price.

1 thing I would watch out on though is WD blue is NOT recommended for 24/7 use.. if this is a storage box my recommendation is a Kingston V300 series ssd I bought one last week and im doing remote access for drivepool and scanner.

I bought the 120gb ssd wich is on newegg for 59.99 it increased my performance 10 fold easily. also u may want one more of those 8gb Kingston ram sticks to enable dual channel mode then windows will fly.

    otherwise sweet build
