  1. DP's been "working" on one folder for days. Looked at it in File Explorer and saw one file and a .copytemp copy of the file. Looked at the folder this morning (gave it one more overnight) and now there are 2 .copytemp files. FlexRAID-2.0-Final_u11.exe.f3c8ac06-7fb3-4e19-983d-57a1a4613e12.copytemp and FlexRAID-2.0-Final_u11.exe.f3c8ac06-7fb3-4e19-983d-57a1a4613e12.copytemp.1a6ead4e-4f87-4b1a-98e2-d6c781e6e8bf.copytemp A few days ago I tried a complete re-install of DP. Used the wiki to get the system as clean as I could, manually deleting the registry key(s), deleting ProgramData and Program Files folders, etc. The clean install doesn't seem to have done any good. DP gets stuck at 2.1% this time. Short of buying a new 8 drive USB enclosure how can I find if I've got some hardware issue, or something else outside of DP? Windows 10, DP 2.1.1.561, Mediasonic 8X Probox with 7 drives installed.
  2. A couple drives failed in quick succession, haven't been able to replace them. I think I need to disable duplication until I get some new drives to fix the pool. Will DP un-duplicate everything if I turn duplication off? That would give me drive space I need until I get some new drives.
  3. is it "just balancing", or did you remove a drive? If you remove a drive it will go read only.
  4. still working on it. DP got stuck hours later. Using http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_Q5510455I modified it a little. I changed the ownership first, then set the permissions. I tried doing it all at once, but it stalled. Changed ownership completely, restarted, then changed permissions. DP is working better. For now....
  5. Tried restarting the system, making sure the service was running, etc. No help. Finally figured out (at least I think) that it was a folder that was set up as a local web site running xampp I believe. ServerPress. I totally gutted the permissions and was able to delete the folder, nothing there I needed. DP is making progress now. Slow, but progress.
  6. After my failed drives hassle DP can't seem to get past 0.2% when Duplicating. It's been there for a couple days now. Is there a log file I can check to see what the problem is? Is there another way to give DP the boot to make it move? I won't be surprised if it's a hardware issue, but I don't know how to find out what the exact issue is. I've got a Mediasonic Probox 8 bay drive enclosure that's been working for years. USB 3.0. Just had 2 drives fail in quick succession. Removed one, but the other died before I could "remove" it. And I hadn't been able to get the duplication done from removing the first drive when the second one died. That's where I'm at. Any help is appreciated.
  7. Used the troubleshooter. Looked like a big file. Reset DP, it's going now. Just hope I haven't lost any files since I removed 2 drives and the duplication hadn't been completed after the first drive was removed. The second drive just up and died before duplication from removing the first drive was finished.
  8. I'll try those. I'm also trying to just recover/repair the disk. Hadn't thought about that before.
  9. Had a drive that I was going to remove, but had to remove another first. This one failed before I could Remove it, now DP shows the drive as Missing. The Remove option doesn't seem to work on a Missing drive. And I can't get DP to re-measure the Duplication, it just says Missing Disk above the progress bar. What can I do? tia
  10. Mostly out of curiosity, why are there files left on a drive that's been removed from the pool? It was a 2 TB drive that was over 75% full when in the Pool, it had 7.4 GB files left on it. I had Duplication turned on for everything, so I'm assuming there are copies of the files on other drives in the Pool. I selected Duplicate Later option so I could get the drive out faster. Now it's re-duplicating. Going to take many hours I'm sure, which is normal. thanks.
  11. as the topic states I changed the pooled drives "drive letters" in Disk Management, but they didn't change in DrivePool. Now the pooled drives show up in DrivePool as the pooled drives with the old drive letters. They also show up as non-pooled drives with the new drive letters. They show up in Windows Explorer with the new drive letters. Windows 7. In the screenshot you can see the drives listed in the pool with the old drive letters. The are also listed as non-pooled drives with the new drive letters. I have tried deactivating and re-activating DrivePool, no difference. I have also deactivated and uninstalled DrivePool, then re-installed and re-activated it. No change. I'm looking for help on getting DrivePool to recognize the pooled drives with the new drive letters. I tried adding one of the drives in the non-pooled list and get an error telling me that I couldn't add the drive to the pool twice, so DrivePool seems to be recognizing the drive with both the old and new drive letters. thanks, monte also, the drives show up in Disk Management with the new drive letters. but you probably already knew that since they show up in Windows Explorer with the new drive letters. just more information.
  12. thank you. I will open a ticket.
  13. I'm pretty sure I need to have the licenses deactivated by starting a support ticket. I just want to know beforehand what will happen the the pools I already have. Is it just a matter of reactivating, creating a new pool and adding the "old" drives? will DP recognize the old pools? thanks
  14. I have a license for 3 copies of drivepool. 3/3 are used, but i seemed to have forgotten to deactivate it once because I only have it running on 2 computers. I need to get it running on a third. I think i've done this before, had to start a support ticket to deactivate all copies, then reactivate it on the computers I have it running on. If I do that what happens to the 2 drivepools I already have built? I can't remember what happened when I did this before. thanks, monte
  15. Scanner shows "File System Damaged" on my drive C:\, a 250GB SSD. Try a repair, scanner comes back with "close all open files". Seems sort of difficult to do that, so do I just select "Force Repair Volume"? monte
  16. the drive is back in the pool. i am assuming the hidden poolpart folder is the current folder. so when a drive is removed from the pool drivepool takes care of duplication as it does, then the folder is unhidden. the files/folders in that unhidden poolpart folder are duplicated as need be on the other drives still in the pool. makes sense. thanks.
  17. i have removed some drives from the pool in order to let Scanner run repairs on them. not sure if that was necessary or helped, but that's what i did. now i have some pool drives with both Hidden and Visible PoolPart folders on them. i.e. uncheck Show Hidden Items and the hidden ones go away and the others are still visible within Windows Explorer. Can i delete the visible PoolPart folders from those drives? one of those folders looks to be 1 TB. Also when i "removed" the drives from the pool i used drivepool's "remove" tool and let it complete it's run. thanks
  18. Do you mean "Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off"? Just looked at it, there's a ".NET Framework 3.5...." and a ".NET 4.5 Framework...." on my computer. Windows 8.1.
  19. ended up being a problem with windows. as per alex i ended up doing a "refresh". have to reinstall all programs, but scanner works after the refresh and reinstall.
  20. update: i was able to submit a support ticket on this. and it looks like the scanner service is running, i just can't get the ui to work.
