    How to unmount Pool

The need came from trying to get a autorun.inf file to work. I read that you needed to unplug/plug the device again for it to take effect. I then tried to unmount the DrivePool and found that even stopping the service would not help. To my surprise, even in Safe Mode, the DrivePool still gets mounted. This behaviour is done because DrivePool is being mounted directly by the DrivePool driver. There is no way to unmount the drive unless you reboot the system, if the driver does not support unmounting the drive itself While there is no "pressing" need to unmount my DrivePool, and given that even in Safe Mode it is still being mounted, maybe having the option to disable it without uninstalling the software would be nice, if worst were to happen. My guess is that it would require for the CoveCube Virtual Drive (The 2TB Drive being shown in disk manager) device to get "unplugged".

    How to unmount Pool

That's just a way to select which pool you want to watch in the UI
  3. Hi, I'm running into an issue with having SSD Optimiser, real time duplication 3x, and only 2 SSDs. When writing files, they are written to an HDD, with the two duplicates into the SSDs. This renders the SSD Optimiser useless, since the speed of writes will be of the HDD. If disabling real time duplication, the duplication will only be run at 2AM (or time configured in the json file). That's not good, since the files will wait before being duplicated. There was an option named "FileDuplication_AlwaysRunImmediate" but it seems to be removed. The solution, in my mind, to fix that, would be either: * Restore FileDuplication_AlwaysRunImmediate, so that immediately after a write, the duplication starts. * Add an option to SSD Optimiser, where if real time optimiser is enabled, duplication on archive drives is delayed. Make the write onto an SSD, and duplicate into the SSDs, leaving the file unduplicated, and starting duplication immediatly. If I could pick to only have the primary file on SSD and the two duplicates (if 3x) on archives, that would be even better. I don't need duplication when files are on SSDs, since they are safer than HDDs. This way, a file written would be put into an SSD, and in the background DrivePool will queue duplication from the file in the SSD to archive files instantly. If this behaviour happens when real time duplication is enabled, this would allow you to disable it and return to current behaviour.

    How to unmount Pool

Hi, I cannot find a way to unmount the pool drive. Despite stopping the DrivePool service, the drive is still here. Is there a way to unmount the drive, in order to perform some tests that require the pool to be removed from the computer ?
  5. Metadata regained it's 3x after a reboot.
  6. Hi, One of the key things that made me dislike DrivePool in the first place was the lack of ability to have "drives" where I could store the data. When using Storage Spaces, I got separate drive letters, and I wanted to keep the setup I had. DriveBender allow this, due to having each mountpoint be a separate Disk (even showing up in Task Manager, one disk per mount point). After looking and testing, and despite a post on this forum, I think I found a solution. While the post is wrong about using subst, I found that by using the registery key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\DOS Devices I could set up the letters as intended. Having an entry named "E:" with value "\??\D:\Backups" would create a drive with the letter E, pointing into the DrivePool, mounted into D: I have not worked out how to name each drive differently (they inherit the DrivePool volume name for now) Having DrivePool manage this by itself would be a great feature to have.
  7. I recently had the Settings.json file get corrupted after a system crash. Deleting it and restarting the DrivePool service will make a new one.
  8. Hi, While playing with duplication settings of my pool, I switched the pool duplication setting to 3x, from 2x. After reverting it to 2x, I was surprised to see that [METADATA] got set to 2x instead of the default 3x for metadata. In addition to that, the button to change the duplication settings for the metadata does nothing. How can I restore the metadata duplication to 3x ? I would even prefer to have it higher, since I have many disks. Letting us change it would be nice as well. Thanks !
