Hello, I have had Drivepool for about a year now and have just installed a second copy on another physical machine. Each machine has ~12TB of data on it. is it possible to use CloudDrive to put the two pools together if data already exists on each? I am thinking of creating a 1TB cloud on machine ONE, pointing it to a Windows share on machine TWO. Then, I want to add the CloudDrive to to the pool on machine ONE... will that show me the existing data from TWO in the pool on ONE? Can the clouddrive be smaller than the data on TWO? Thanks for any help you can provide!
EDIT: Should make out I am pretty pleased with DrivePool but no software is perfect!! The "Other" category. I saw a nice post explaining how it's all the odds and ends etc but each of my HDDs seems to have 500Mb or more of this. Does DP do any cleaning of this junk? Does it also check or recreate missing Recycle bins? I am thinking that if it does then I might delete these and see if the recreated ones are less space used? It just seems that any good program should be as clean and tidy as it can be!!! DP doesn't seem to respect its own placement rules. I have a "scratch" HDD for most u
Hello, I'm pretty sure I'll be buying DP soon. Will either use duplication for protection, or SnapRAID. If I go with the former, and choose to use the plugin OrderedFilePlacement to disable balancing* and not make my HDDs spin all at once, then am I correct to assume that I will also need to think better about which HDDs I write to first. Consider the following scenarios: (I know it's an extreme one in terms of HDD-size difference) I currently have 1 x 8TB HDD and 2 x 2TB HDDs. This will basically mean that if I want file-duplication with balancing off, I'll have to make su
