  1. I would point the path to the drivepool folders. Take a look here:

"Second, instead of running fix with the OLD PoolPart path, edit the config file to point to the NEW PoolPart path before running fix. Get that path by adding the new drive to DrivePool first. Then there's no cut/paste or moving of files from one folder to another after the fix. You should not create PoolPart folders manually, especially duplicate folders on the wrong drives! DrivePool doesn't like that and can cause conflicts."

Running the config with the poolpart folders seems a lot easier imho

  2. Hi,

That doesn't help :( I tried it again some minutes ago:

    - Disk 1 and 2 filled to about 300 GB free
    - Disk 3 and 4 to about 1,0 TB free

The files downloaded are placed on Drive 3 which is fine. Moving the new files inside the pool moves them on Disk 3- Even if the destination folder structre doesn't exist there but exists on drive 1 and 2. If I move files from the outside to the pooled destination directory they are placed on Disk 4 (creating the structure there). Ordered file placement doesn't seem to make any difference here. Any Idea?

    Thanks
    Peter

    Edit:

I disabled ordered file placement, I have 2 main folders but they should fill vice-versa (Folder 1 should fill disk 1 and folder 2 should fill disk 3) but enabling ordered file placement allways fills one disk. So I have to take a look if I try to reorderd files on the drives to have them re-ordered (2 Disks filled completely, 2 half empty and filling them one-after-another regardless of the filetype and/or destinationfolder) . Not exactly the way I would like it, I used liquesce before and thought that DrivePool would be better regarding the file placement. Maybe I'm just still missing the right configuration for my case?

  3. Hi,

No, that is not the way I'm doing it. Download and placement is done inside the pooled drive. By Disk 3 etc I meant it was placed there because of some file placement rules I enforced by hand. I want Drivepool to move the files to Disk 1 because there are the other files, but instead the files stay on Disk 3 when moving them inside the pool. Placing them from outside (moving to a non-pooled HDD and back in the pool) moved it to the drive with the most free space.

    Thanks

  4. Hi,

After migrating from Truecrypt to DiskCryptor I'm able to use DrivePool. But I noticed something after merging some files today:

4 Disks, 2(No 1+2) filled to ~350GB free, 2(No 3+4) Disks filled to ~1,2TB free. I'm using snapraid so balancing is no option for me.

I downloaded a bunch of renderings overnight to disk 3. I want to move them to an existing folder on drive 1 - but moving the files inside the pool moves them on disk 3 (so creating the folder-structure on disk 3). I tried the ordered file placement plugin, but it still won't fill the disk where the other renderings are. Adding it from the pool-outside places them on disk 4. But Disk 1 and 2 are used to store the files (that's why they are so full) - so the only way I see would be file placement rules and enable just disk 1 and 2. Is there any other way?

Is there any chance to get DrivePool to stick to "folder boundaries"?

    Thanks!

    Peter

  5. Ouh, this sounds interesting - maybe I'll migrate if it works perfectly. I found a thread in the forum where there was a problem with the license - maybe everything is fixed now?

    http://community.covecube.com/index.php?/topic/522-license-transfer-request-on-os-encrypted-by-truecrypt/

Otherwise it looks like I'll have to wait for Product 3 (and so leave my bought license for drivepool completly unused) if I want to stick to Truecrypt. Is there an ETA for the BETA?

  6. Hmm,

Okay, so there is no ETA on this... Since I'm slowly running out of space on 2 of my disks and junction points don't quite work (because software is storing the "original" path instead of the junction-point path) I'll have to find a solution in the near future :(

Hope Alex will find a way to get this into a beta soon

    Thanks!

  7. I'll post a new version of the script soon in the linked sourceforge thread - the new 6.0 Beta of Snapraid includes access to diff and list, status etc.. without spinning the parity drives. In my case Parity is powered on/off with pre/post script. And I created some functions to clean up the code a bit.

Hope to put my DrivePool Licence to use - but I need the truecrypt support. Just stumbled across this and wanted to let you know that there will be a new version of the powershell script :)

  8. I know but it requieres an USB key... A bit useless for a server. Always plugged in then and so I can turn encryption off... which would be the same since a thief would have the USB key. Otherwise you won't be able to remote-start the server (if the usb key isn't attached) which is also bad since this is a Server not a workstation...

  9. @drashna:

Bitlocker is a bit tricky in this case (using this on my Notebooks since there is TPM and Fingerprint and PIN) - but the Server doesn't have TPM so I can only use an USB-Stick with a keyfile - and not an boot password. So that's not really an option for the Server.

Guess I'll have to stick with Flexraid then... really liked the combination of Drivepool and Scanner. If Truecrypt support will come I hope I can change to drivepool - but looking at the disks I don't see a Problem here as far as I can tell.

I know - or at least I can think - that there is a huge bunch of things on the ToDo - but I hope an ETA for this is somewhere in the near future. Guess there are a bunch of people out there discarding Drivepool because of the lack of Truecrypt support.

    But thanks for the note!
