There isn't anything to "fix" here. The 429 errors are a server side issue, and a bandwidth throttling related error.
As for ACD_CLI, the issue is that they had ... essentially publically published their API/security profile keys, due to the open source nature of the product. We don't have that issue, as we are "closed source".
Additionally, the ability to create new drives on Amazon (Cloud) Drive has been removed on the release version, as we were never re-approved for production use.
This totally screws me now
My 10TB Drive showed up, and then i closed the application, pulled it back up, and it was gone. Kind of frustrating. Are you still trying to get re-approved? -
I work for VMWare, so I'm not sure how your setup works complete, if this was ESXi VSAN I'd be able to help more.
At this point, the only way to know for sure is to try it. Monitor it the best you can. I have a 5 servers running our VSAN software, and another 5 running NSX. What you're wanting to do should work. Though, I think Cloud Drive might struggle a bit.

I purchased a copy of all 3 products several years ago, and I recently had my OS Drive for my storage array go down. I re-installed to Windows Server 2016, and tried to activate Stablebit Cloud, it told me my Serial Key was "Fake", and wouldn't work.
I'm currently running Linux, using ZFS RaidZ2 for it, due to a huge migration, and Stablebit having trouble with my 215TB Pool.

Has this issue been fixed? I knew Stablebit used an OAuth server to avoid what ACD/ACD_CLI did.

SSH? Have you checked out "Enter-PSSession" in powershell?
It's a remote powershell session, and very SSH-y.

I believe it does require remote management to be enabled, but ... I use this over the domain. It works fantastically.
The thing about SSH is, it's almost universal. I'm assuming you can't access the Enter-PSSession from a Linux box because Linux doesn't have powershell..

Yes, it will work with Windows Server 2016 just fine.
The kernel is the same as Windows 10, so .. if it works for one, it works for both.
And we've tested it a decent bit, with no issues... well, one... the release and public beta require an additional reboot to install he the correct driver, which is fixed in the latest internal beta builds.
So, no issues with it.
Sweet. I have a free copy of Windows 2016 Data Center Edition. I was going to upgrade from my 2k12. It'll be nice to test it out. I wish Microsoft would officially release an SSH setup for Windows =/

I'm trying to figure out if anyone here has tested DrivePool with Server 2016 or if StableBit has been tested on Server 2016. If they need test data, I can provide it, and remote access to retrieve information.

Forgot to ask, if I upgrade my OS, I won't lose the data on the Pooled Drives, as long as I don't nuke any of them, correct?

The point of clouddrive is the chunk system. Just mount your drive in clouddrive and you should be able to download.
Everything is encrypted if you selected such during creation

StableBit CloudDrive stores the raw disk data on the provider, in these chunks. It then pieces them together "on the fly" and stores them in the cache, so you can access them.
You have to use our software to mount the drive, but then it can read the disk data and get access to your data. So yes, you are "locked" to our software. But the upside is that it's obfuscated at least, and can be securely encrypted.
However, no compression occurs.
tl;dr: Install StableBit CloudDrive on the system, and connect to your account. The software then reads these chunks and rebuilds your drive.

Alright. Well, I'm moving my large storage to a linux software raid, while I'm leaving my desktop with StableBit Software. I've had a few disks go, and no alerts happened. Just noticed I lost a metric ton of data, thankfully, it's replicated across a few different storage arrays. Friend of mine has 1.4PB of raw storage, and I rent space from him.

Yeah. It was scarier than all hell. Both the PSUs popped, looked like someone shoved an M80 in there. It had been running fine for a few weeks while I stress tested it. The hard drives are covered by warranty, however I'm more salty about the brand new SAS2 backplane I just put in it. That's fried like a friggin' piece of bacon.
Once I get my new PC built, I'll migrate everything again. It'll be a month before Seagate sends me new drives, they want to do some research on them to see what exactly happened, and if it's preventable. Future reference, don't buy used PSUs. Gotta buy a new PDU too, there goes my Raritan 48Port High Density PDU

Been awhile since I've been on here last. I've had a 10TB Pool from ACD for quite some time now, I haven't really used it much. The other day I started to copy a back up of my Drives there. When I looked at the Amazon Cloud Drive WebUI, it shows a load of 1MB and 2MB files in a chunk. So, my question is; how in gods name do I restore it or re-download the entire file to another PC or back to the storage cluster?
Also, is there a way to turn off this chunk uploading, and make it a handful of chunks? Does CD encrypt or compress the data at all?

P.S. Christopher, I broke my 36 Bay. PSU Blew up and it sort've caught fire. 8x8TB Drives gone. Thus the backing up.

I work in a Data Center, 10Gbit Network is standard here, in the home? Yeah, nope. Wouldn't waste your money, it'd cost you $800 per device, cards are $300 - $1,000 a pop. Just isn't worth it.
I would, if I were you and moving large amounts of data, build an 8 Bay SSD intermediary device. Since Platter drives are by far slower than SSD, everything would get moved from Outgoing_Server -> SSD Array -> Storage_Array. It'd help quite a bit, I plan on doing it with my PLEX Media Server. Looking at 6x 512GB or 1TB SSD Samsung Drives. Should be plenty fast enough and keep the bottleneck down. I also suffer from slow network speeds, but that's just because my desktop is 7 Years old

You know, it's funny. I have Cloud working fine. I have a 10TB "drive", and I have it auto adding everything. I've successfully backed up 189GB of data. I would suggest doing small bursts of data. Not everyone has incredibly fast internet. I did have a problem with ACD "ping" spamming my connection, my Firewall was blocking part of the communication.
I'll test it once my pool gets a bit larger.

Yup, Rackmount servers are expensive. Even the cheap stuff (norco) is like $400 for the better cases (the RPC-4220 and RPC-4224). And SuperMicro cases are probably some of the best you'll find, and MUCH more expensive (though ebay and craigslist is a good place to look for them).
The upside, is like BinaryData said: Hot swappable drive bays. 20+ depending on the case. That makes installing and removing drives very simple.
The downside is that you will basically need a crash course in SAS to really use these case effectively (or at all).
That really depends. The Norco I'm using (RPC-4220) has 12x 4TB drives and 5x8TB drives in it. so it can hold a LOT of capacity. But this depends on the drives, the controller and the "backplane" connecting the drives.
As for "darn fast", that definitely depends on your configuration. A lot of the NAS grade drives get 150+MB/s for max sequential reads. Which is faster than what gigabit ethernet will get you. So...
Well, i suppose so. I wouldn't stick an i7 in a Norco case. I'd rather build a tower (Which can be made for racks), especially if it's something that'd run 24/7, I'd rather have it cooled better.
With what he's asking, he'll be spending anywhere from $1,000 to $3,000 on his machine. My Gen8 Microserver works super well with my setup. My setup works like this;
Gen 8 is the primary media center. It downloads the latest series (via Sonarr.tv), while PLEX serves the media. I have a 100Mbit up/down unmetered business class connection, so I can serve 2 - 3 different people outside my network without a problem. Currently it's just my brother, however my mom will be accessing it too
Comcast offers a Gigabit connection for $300 / month. -
Well, for Storage Spaces, not really a lot has changed. The 2012R2 version didn't really bring any improvements to it, IIRC.
And that's very odd that you had issues with the RED drives.
As for cache, well, if you have duplication (redundancy) enabled in StableBit DrivePool, it does do read striping (no, this isn't as fast as it would be with RAID, but we do a number of optimizations, based on the system:

But as for a read cache? The problem is that it would still have to read from the hard drives, and that will still slow it down, and would really make it take longer.
And as for redundancy, the term we use is "duplication", specifically. And this can be configured "globally", and it can be configured per folder. Additionally, you can set it higher than the default "x2" duplication, for stuff that you want well protected.

I've been reading this all on my cellphone, been out in the data hall installing PDUs. You know how annoying it is to use speech to text with noise cancellation. You say farm, it writs fart.
I was thinking the SSD Optimizer was for running multiple SSDs as a pool, I haven't had the time to fully dive into it.
As for duplication, a lot of my stuff I don't mind losing, however my collection of 720p TV Shows / DVDs, I do mind that. It's not been easy collecting 10TB of stuff. Especially when I ripped about 95% of them all, that 5% is the latest series. My idea was to tag team the pools. Whatever is in J:/ gets automatically uploaded to the Amazon Cloud Service, thus creating a "backup", however I'm thinking it might be in the best interest to setup RAID6 using 3TB drives in an 8 Bay Norco. I'll refer to our PMs for help with that
Well, StableBit still rocks Storage Spaces. I don't know what happened, maybe you can tell me exactly what this means.

Mmm... That's a 50/50 chance there, Chris.
If the board is an older model, pre- 2012, you may run into some trouble with larger sized drives.
Do you have a Linux Distro you can look at the drive with?
When I played with the 8TB/10TB drives, I ran into Windows wanting to configure them as NTFS and not GPT.

You may have to format it as 2x 4TB Drives, which is obnoxious, I know.
I have 5 of these drives, and the only issues I've had is that one arrive DOA (my first DOA drive, actually).
However, specs on the SYBA card indicates it only supports up to 4TB drives:

And I can't find enough information about the motherboard chipset, aside from that it's using the A50 chipset, and it's a mobile chipset, actually.
Aside from that, it sounds like this is a compatibility issue here.
Do you have a USB enclosure you can test? If so, try that and see if you get better results.
Otherwise, you may want to return the drive and get a smaller capacity, or invest in a different controller cards. (Or contact Syba and see if the have a fix for the issue).

After reading all of this, I'm quite disappointed. I couldn't get Storage Spaces to create a pool with my Western Digital RED NAS 3TB Drives. I couldn't remember the error off the top of my head, but TechNews had 0 support on it, and said that it may not support the drives at all. Thus why I'm using StableBit on NTFS. Also, I couldn't format as ReFS on Server 2012 R2, the option didn't even appear.
As for 8TB drives, hah. 10TB was just announced, and my company LOVES to be the Guinea Pig for new hardware. I won't release the name due to not knowing you guys. We recently purchased a few new Dell FX2s, and I hate the things. We also just swapped out 4x 36 Bay Supermicro's 8TB drives for 10TB ones. According to the Storage Team, they are happy. R/W is a little slower, however not enough to turn back.
My biggest concern about DP is redundancy. I'm new to the storage game, as I'm just a Data Center Tech, I don't get much experience with RAID or anything. I just swap parts out. My largest pool will be about 27TB of space. About 3 - 10TB will be used, and the rest will be expansion. I looked into Storage Pools because it was free (Sorry Alex!), however when I google'd about it, most of the articles were 3+ Years old, and I found no recent information.
@ Alex / Chris - You guys should allow a cache configured drive, i.e SATA/PCI-E Sata drives as the cache point. It would speed up media serving.

Well, I have a dual core in my media server which handles PLEX, Sonarr, and StableBit. That's all it does.
It would help to have a bit more specific, I've built a handful of media boxes for various people. My last build included a JBOD 36 Bay Supermicro with an Dell R830/820.
I highly suggest you steer clear of x265. Compared to x264, there is no match really. I'm rockin' a 6 core Intel i7 OC'd to 4.2Ghz, 32GB RAM, Intel 750 HDD, and it still takes me 20 minutes - 30 minutes longer than my x264 encodes. But that's just my opinion.
If you're deadset on Rack Mount (Which I prefer, due to hotswappable drives), you'll spend a pretty penny for what you're wanting. My Gen 5 HP DL360 (I think that's the name, haha) has dual Quad Cores, 8GB of RAM and it encodes about 10 minutes slower than my buddies Intel i7.
But to the point, custom building a rackmount server will cost you, you won't have the space for large capacity. What I'd suggest doing is build a darn fast server that'll handle your requests, and serve content, however the bottleneck will always be from your storage to your server.
If you'd like, I can whip you up something in a rackmount fashion, I'll also post my media servers build. As for my desktop, it costs $5,000. Water Cooling isn't complete, but it's about $1,000 total for the complete setup. I'm waiting for a cooling block for Intel 750 Drives.

Hmm.. You ended up fixing it through other means. Now the problem is, my 10TB pool is gone, I was messing with settings and accidentally deleted it. I was trying to rename something. Any way to get it back?
