  1. Hi,

I installed the last beta version of Scanner 2.6.0.3303 and register to Stablebit Cloud.

    • 3 drives are missing even after resintalling and rebooting several times  (they are ok in Drivepool). Reinstalling version 2.5.5.3293 fixed the issue.
    • The Scanner service takes now more than 1 minute to start.

    Regards.

  2. I tried with v689. Same issue. I will update this post with the outcome of the dpcmd command line tool.

Update: less files this time, but still an issue + inconsistent directories and files. No change to the pool between v682 above and v689.

WIth v682 installed by Alex during the last debug session  - of course the issue didn't show up :-)

    I will try version 684.

  4. Hi,

I got this new error message using version 670 on Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

I had to recheck the duplication.

    Regards.

  5. Hi Christopher,

My apologies but I didn't have time to investigate more this issue so I didn't give you a feedback.

I have resintalled my server using the latest build of Windows 10 (July 2016 - 1607). I am still facing the same issue with version 282 Beta and even if I recreate the pool - what I have done so far. Version 670 Beta is still working as expected.

Can we setup this debug session?

    Thx

  6. If you're still having this issue on the newer builds, please let us know.

Ideally, we'd like to set up a remote support session to take a look at this directly as we've been unable to reproduce this issue.

    Hi Christopher,

What "newer" builds? I have the issue with version 672 up to 675 - which is the lastest one I find on http://dl.covecube.com/DrivePoolWindows/beta/download/.

I don't have the issue with 670 and running the dpcmd command line tool to check the duplication is ok with 670 and, once upgraded, ko with 672-675.

    Thx.

  7. Hi,

I have an issue since version 672 up to 675 that I've just tested.

When measuring the pool I have a feedback message stating that DP failed to measure the pool on a given file. If I remove this file from the pool, it will fail on another file.

I have done a checkdisk on all disks from the pool: no error.

If I reinstall version 670, no issue measuring the pool, accessing the files, etc...

FYI I am able to open the files from the PoolPart folder. No issue. I only got the issue when trying to open them through the pool.

  9. HI,

I have an issue on several files in one folder.

A duplication warnings window is displayed with the following message:

"There were problems checking, duplicating or cleaning up on or more files on the pool.

    Files:

xxxx The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable"

These files have been successfully backed up to OneDrive using GoodSync from the pool - so it confirms that, at one point in time, the files were ok - but I am not able to access them from the pool anymore - can't delete, move, etc.... For this folder, the duplication is set to 3.

    Questions:

    • Is there a way to know if these files have been already duplicated?
    • As these files have been successfully copied to OneDrive, if duplicated, is there a way to get recover one of the 2 "good" copies?
    • Is there a way to know on which disk(s) the(se) file(s) are stored?
    • DrivePool seems to stop in the Pool Organization step with warnings: does it mean that duplication is stopped until this issue is fixed?

I am using DrivePool 2.2.0.663 BETA & Scanner 2.5.2.3119 BETA

    Thanks.

  10. How much HDD space? I know when my data is in the pool I was sitting at 15-17TB. So with running x2+ duplication I wouldn't have enough to space right?

Did Scanner not work because of the drives being in a USB or eSATA enclosure?

If you want x2 duplication, you need twice the space: I have about 22TB of files (most of them are 2x, others are 3x), then the total used space is about 44GB. With FlexRaid I used to have 40GB available (10x4TB DRUs) and only 1x4TB parity drive. So I "sacrificed" ~18GB of HDD space. :-)

For the disks and Scanner, I am using 2xLian-Li EX-503 enclosures. SMART status and data can't be read for 2 disks: 1 WD/1TB in USB, 1 WD/4TB in eSATA. But all the other disks (8 out of 10) in these enclosures are correctly detected.

  11. Hi,

From my past experience of FlexRaid user, I think FlexRaid is not reliable enough. Reading the forums, there are still too many issues when trying to restore a failed drive, whatever the reasons are (update of the parity drive not done or failed, disk errors, etc...). I lost 700+GB of data, all recovered files were corrupted and it took ages to recover these corrupted files. No error during the last update during the parity, etc... I was using FlexRaid with HD Sentinel.

This is my own experience. It might work perfectly well for other users - even if I am wondering how many people already tried to restore a 6TB drive to check if everything is ok.

So I decided to sacrifice hard drive space in order to be sure that my files are protected and that I can recover them without any issue and not waiting for x days: I moved to DrivePool and Scanner. I am pretty satisfied until now even if I have some small issues with Scanner (some of my drives are not recognized). But I like the integration of these 2 tools (files placement rule based on Scanner).

  12. Hi,

I have the same type of errors even after rebooting my sever.

  13. Hi,

I just moved from FlexRaid + HD Sentinel to StableBit DrivePool + Scanner. I have exactly the same issue with my RocketRaid 230x controller. I have upgraded to the latest available firmware. No smart data.

I have 3 drives connected to this controller and never had any issue with HD Sentinel. All my drives are in legacy mode.

I tried using a specific method in Direct I/O test and found that the ScsiPassthrough method returns SMART data except Status and Power Mode. Unsafe Direct I/O works as well.

Is there a way to force the method used by Scanner for these specific drives or should I proceed with the unsafe one? Is the unsafe method is a global parameter or a per-disk one?

    Thanks,

    François
