  1. The recycle bin was empty. System Volume Information folder was empty I think I may have found the problem. On removing the Poolpart.27099acc-9b43-4aff-8854-db05102694da the HDD was still reporting 1.6TB used by Aomei partition assistant! I removed all the partitions on I: & created a new partition. I removed the I: drive from the drivepool & then re-added it to the pool. The phantom 1.56TB "other" on I: has gone! I don't know what caused this problem but, for now, it's fixed Thanks Shane for your input.
  2. Hi All I recently replaced a dying HDD in my 8-drive pool but this new 4TB HDD is showing duplicated (x3) = 423GB & 'other' = 1.56TB. When I view this new HDD in Windows Explorer (I: drive) it only lists the PoolPart.27099acc-9b43-4aff-8854-db05102694da; no other folders/files listed. All of the other HDD's in the pool also show PoolPart.27099acc-9b43-4aff-8854-db05102694da but contain no 'other' entry. i've tried remeasuring, re-balancing & reset all settings but this 'other' value of 1.56TB remains. I: drive properties only lists the 423GB poolpart. I ran chkdsk on I: but no errors found; any suggestions?
  3. Hi Shane I ran HDD regenerator & seatools on a different PC, which doesn't have SB scanner installed. Although HDD regenerator reported issues with 7 sectors & recommended backing up the HDD, it didn't actually report any bad sectors in the section below the progress graph but obviously it found something it didn't like, hence the suggestion. I've 6 HDD's & 1 SSD on the PC that reported the problem; one of the HDD I only replaced after the issue with the problem drive & everything is normal even using the same SATA port & data cable, so it seems the HDD that has the problem is actually faulty but seatools says it's OK! I've RMA'd the HDD & returned it to Seagate so can no longer test it.
  4. I've added the Seagate Seetools test results below; as can be seen, all tests passed but SB scanner flagged bad sectors as soon as I re-connected the HDD. HDD regenerator reported issues with 7 sectors & recommended backing up the HDD. Would Seagate reject a warranty claim based on their test results?
  5. The problem I posted in Feb 2025 has returned (see above) but not the same HDD. The HDD in question is a Seagate IronWolf Pro 4TB manufactured in Sept 2024. I ran chkdsk; no problems reported. I ran Seagate seatools short & long generic tests, both tests passed. I've attached a cystaldisk image; no problems indicated even after repeated refreshes (F6). I changed the HDD data cable & SATA port; no difference. I'll run HDD regenerator 2024 tonight & get back to you with the results. Any suggestions would be appreciated
  6. Hi All This post is more information than asking a question. I run a Win 10 PC backup PC with 13 HDD's; randomly, DP & Scanner would report a missing disk. A Windows reboot usually fixed the problem but recently the problem has been occurring more frequently. I ran Seagate diagnostics & the HDD passed all tests. I swapped out data & power cables & tried connecting the HDD to another SATA port; problem still there. Finally, I upgraded to a larger PSU, 700W to 850W, & the problem has not reappeared since. The big difference in the 700W versus the 850W psu was the +12V line; 48A max in the 700W psu & 70.8A max in the 850W psu.
  7. I have 6 HDD's in a pool & today the pool reported a missing disk but SB scanner reported the disk as available & healthy. The missing disk was listed in the non-pooled section (identified by the disk's serial number), The missing disk appeared as normal & accessible in windows 10 Explorer! I rebooted Windows & the pool no longer reported a missing disk?? Any suggestions as to why this is happening?
  8. duplicate (2 copies), triplicate (3 copies), quadruplicate (4 copies), quintuplicate (5 copies) are a more precise definition. I know, PEDANTIC!
  9. Maybe 3rd,4th, 5th order replication etc is more appropriate than 2nd order (duplication)?
  10. ps I don't like the term 'duplication' which suggests 2 copies of files/folders are created. I store 3 copies therefore 'replication' is a more appropriate term for more than 2 copies of files/folders. Call me pedantic!
  11. Thank you all for your feedback
  12. Hi All This is a hypothectical question; if Stablebit were to cease trading & the drivpool licence expired how would I gain access to the 'pool' to recover my data? I ask this question because in 2022 this happened to me (which I'd forgotten about): Lost access to (DrivePool M3) because trial period had ended hence mirror not accessible!! Purchased a new licence & all was OK!!
  13. Yesterday (14/08/2024) the same single HDD in a pool of 12 HDD's was disconnected 6 times & reconnected each time within 1 minute over a period of 2 hours 20 minutes. Today this happened 4 times over a period of 9 minutes. Each time it was the same HDD. Any suggestions?
  14. Maybe I didn't make it clear; the HDD passed tests with both pieces of software listed above (Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows extended tests & HDD Regenerator sector checks) but stablebit scanner still shows unreabable sectors after passing both these software tests. If I mark all unreadable blocks unchecked then the unreadable marker disappears but reappears at the next stablebit scan.
  15. I have a 4TB Western Digital HDD that stablebit scanner 2.6.9 reports as having unreadable sectors. I ran Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows extended tests (8 hours) & this reported the HDD as good (SMART also reported as good). I also ran HDD Regenerator sector checks which also reported the HDD as good. Is this a false positive?
