Drivepool shows 50GB "Others" Files

Hi,

I have on my disk 50 GB of "Others" files.  I read about it and I know what "others" can be, but in my case its not.

The strange thing I have it on drive letter H: And when I  recapture the pool exact the 50 GB are now on an other drive letter.

What I did:

I removed the disk.

I cleaned the disk and copied the data new to it.

I deleted the whole pool and copied everything to the new pool again.

Nothing helps...

I looked onto the hidden folder and there is no data wtih 50 GB.

 

What can that be?

Are there possibly any locked files?  For ex. BitTorrent like to reserve space by creating empty files & locking them.

You say you 'cleaned' the disk.  By reformatting, or just deleting files?

Hi,

no torrent files or such.

I cleaned it with diskpart an then removed the drive. 

 

BTW: Where are the wss troubleshoot tools in V2? I cant find them.

This has an explanation of what these may be, here:

 

Most likely, it's from the System Volume Information folder that Windows automatically creates. 

That, or if you're formatting using a non-standard allocation unit size, or using ReFS, then this may be normal.

I read about it, but in case I wonder why it poped up after many month out of nowhere.

I even reseted my pool and the 50GB were shown on another drive then.

So what else can i try to delete the 50GB "Others"?

 

In diskmanagement the size of the pool is 2TB instead of 50,9TB. Does this matter in my case?

 

 

BTW: Where are the wss troubleshoot tools in V2? I cant find them.

The main two reasons that this can happen.  File system errors and chkdsk, which may lead to a "found.###" folder.  the other reason is VSS snapshots, especially if the data on that drive changed a lot (such as balancing data off of it).

That's normal.  It's an artifact of how Windows manages drives.  It has to have a size before we can properly calculate the size. So it's a placeholder.  But if you notice, everywhere else, it reports the correct size.

Nope.  But I think it should still work for v2
