Use DrivePool with Storage Spaces

On the "Create a New Pool" menu my Storage Space drives are an option and allowed me to add them to a pool.  Does this really work or is it not recommended.  I think this may add extra overhand for data transfer but a use case for putting some old hard drives with archived files back online.

I have been using SS/drivepool for 2 years primarily because I use it for tiered storage (SSD/disk) and it works perfectly in Win 10.   It shows up as a logical Microsoft storage space device in the GUI.  No performance issues, it flies.  I use 500 GB SSD for the 2 pooled vdevs.  I also combine it w/ Snapraid for local DR backup to a phys drive outside of SS.
