Run CloudDrive inside a VM.

Greetings.

 

Currently I am using a bare metal setup with Server 2016 that has CloudDrive on the main host. I am wondering if we could use CloudDrive inside of a VM? We're looking to virtualize. My concern is if any moment in time we have to restore from a snapshot, or backup this will cause corruption inside the cache drive on the VM. I assume that will trigger an immediate recovery check on the drives?

 

Please let me know what is best and how to proceed.

Absolutely!

That's how we do a majority of our testing, in fact!

And yes, it would.  Best solution for that?  Create a second drive for the VM, use that exclusively for the cache, and don't back that drive up.
