postcd
Hello, i am not yet using DP. I have this problem: across my HDDs there is significant duplicity of large video files (10MB up to around 2GB video files). Usually the file is multiple times in the filesystem, located in different folders under different file names. Can i use DP to get rid of this duplicity, meaning on the resulting pool (NTFS filesystem) the layman will be able to find the duplicate files, but in reality, the DP will make sure that is used only the physical space equal to one file? (PS: I heard that btrfs, zfs (Linux) filesystems has such deduplication functionality, but needs alot of RAM) My OS is Windows 10.
Christopher (Drashna)
No, StableBit DrivePool doesn't do any form of data Deduplication. In fact, it can do the opposite: you can duplicate folders to have multiple copies of files, to protect against drive failure.
