Jasper
Size of pool is 6.76TB. I know it's a lot but after 24 hours, only 20% has been duplicated. I Stablebit doing something in addition to copying like verifying maybe. Thanks
0 Christopher (Drashna)
The Duplication pass can take a long while, especially if you have a lot of smaller files. It not only moves/copies files, it also checks each disk to for duplicate files. So it can definitely take a while.
0 Jasper
Thanks. It's at 26.6% now. Guess I'll just have to be patient.
0 Christopher (Drashna)
Yeah, it can take a while. If it makes you feel any better, I just did a bunch of house cleaning (which involved re-partitioning a couple of my pooled drives), so I'm in the same "waiting boat" that you are. But I have 20TBs in my pool...
0 Jasper
Wow, it looks like it's gonna take mine about 4 days. 20TB would be over twice as long. Glad I only have to do this once...in theory.
0 dbailey75
It took me about 4 days to back up 6TB's of data from my pool to external storage, now there was some down time between jobs, and switching disks, etc, but I could see it taking close to 48 hours if going non stop. If I recall, duplication maybe throttle back a little as not to interfere with other processes too. So how do you feel about cloud storage backup for your data? lol. 0 Jasper
I also have my data backed up on another server but thought since I had the space I'd also have Drive Pool duplicate it. You can never have too many backups.
0 dbailey75
agreed, never ever have to many backups.
0 Christopher (Drashna)
Yes, DrivePool definitely throttles itself based on network and disk activity to prevent any performance issues.
