My Pool Directory name is invalid, check for duplication inconsistency

Question

Posted

I have tried everything except a new hard drive enclosure.

I recent had power surges and my drives shut down.

I had various issues, corrupted recycling bin being one of them. Permissions were all out of wack. I fixed everything but I am still hit with this error when the pool tries to organize

Hi, I'd suspect some NTFS permissions on one or more disks might still not have been actually fixed (this can happen despite showing up in Windows properties as supposedly good); you may wish to try the SetACL method I describe in this thread if you haven't already.

If that doesn't work (or as an alternative option) you could try:

  • manually re-seeding the pool's user content in each disk into a new poolpart (complicated but relatively quick, as it doesn't involve copying files)
  • or choosing to remove, format and re-add each poolpart disk (can be terribly slow if you've got large/many disks as lots of copying can be involved)
  • or restoring your pool from a backup (if available).

I did most of that and connected my pool to a different computer, it worked without any issues. I even installed a clean copy of windows. Whatever it is, its not the drives or my external drive bays. Any thoughts?

I was going to suggest maybe the DrivePool service store might be borked - but "installed a clean copy of windows" implies that would've been wiped clean too.

All I could suggest at this point is opening a support ticket with StableBit and hopefully they might figure it out?
