SSD Optimizer not filling archive drives evenly

Question

Posted

Hello,

Problem is pretty straight forward. Before I started using the ssd optimizer, Drivepool would always put new files on whatever drive had the most free space. That's the way I like it. But now with the optimizer, it seems to prefer one drive only, and now that drive has several hundred GB less space than the other six. I have no other active balancing plugins. All drives are marked correctly in the plugin settings. I have no ordered placement rules. All of the "respect" options are checked in balancing settings. I have it set to balance once a day. If I disable the plugin, the archive drives start filling evenly again.

What am I missing?

Just to confirm, in the SSD Optimizer balancer under Ordered Placement both Unduplicated and Duplicated prioritization are unchecked?

In the Balancers section I would suggest enabling the Disk Space Equalizer. Maybe at a lower priority than the SSD Optimizer.

Yes. Thanks for the reply. It's actually fine now. I put the HDs in their own pool and the SSDs in another. Joined them in what I'm calling the Actual Pool. It's a little byzantine, but the HDs are filling evenly now:)
