Lewpy Posted June 13, 2025 Posted June 13, 2025 I have a brand new Western Digital WD80EAAZ drive (I had two, but one has been RMA'd due to sector errors from day one 🙁). There is no SMART information in Scanner, and the temperature isn't shown, while my NVMe drives show up fine. The message shown is: Quote The on-disk S.M.A.R.T. check is not accessible. Drive temperature and operating parameters are not available and will not be monitored. I have tried toggling the Advanced "Unsafe" Direct IO and the "NoWmi" options, but neither have made a difference (I restarted the service in-between changing the settings, and have rebooted a few times since as well). I have tried the Direct IO Test program DirectIoTest-1_0_8915_37373.exe, and this appears to work fine, and I can see SMART attributes including Attribute 194 showing 0x20 (32C). What else can I try to get Scanner to read the SMART attributes of my drive? Quote
Christopher (Drashna) Posted June 20, 2025 Posted June 20, 2025 Could you open a ticket at https://stablebit.com/Contact ? And this is odd. Everything looks to check out, and checksum is valid, so it should work. But checking the ignore checksum and signauter options may help Quote
Lewpy Posted July 28, 2025 Author Posted July 28, 2025 Having spoken to @Christopher (Drashna) via the Support page, ticking the IgnoreChecksum (under SMART) seemed to be the way to get it to work Note that it takes about 30 seconds to a minute for the SMART information to start appearing in Scanner, so just wait a short while after making the change before doing anything else. No need to restart the Scanner service or reboot, from my experience. Shane 1 Quote
