Trig Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Morning all, Just swapped out a pair of WD60EFPX's which appear to be readable and work as expected, for a set of 8tb's. However the WD80EFPX's I get the following error/message in Scanner. The on-disk S.M.A.R.T. check is not accessible. Drive temperature and operating parameters are not available and will not be monitored. Something not playing nicely on the 8tb versions? Quote
Christopher (Drashna) Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Most likely, it's more to do with the controller than the disk itself. In the advanced settings, there are a couple of options that may help, but mostly the "Unsafe" option in the "Direct I/O" section. The advanced settings are hidden until you enable them in the Scanner settings. Quote
Trig Posted March 23 Author Posted March 23 Odd that the 6tb version of that same drive doesn't work though, if it were the controller would I have not seen this on one of the many drives I've had on it over the years? Quote
Lewpy Posted July 29 Posted July 29 If you are still having issues with this drive, it may be worth checking the resolution to my very similar issue with a WD80EAAZ drive. Ticking the Ignore Checksum option under SMART in the Advanced Options appears to have resolved the issue for me. Note that it takes about 30 seconds to a minute for the SMART information to start appearing in Scanner, so just wait a short while after making the change before doing anything else. No need to restart the Scanner service or reboot, from my experience. Dlvv 1 Quote
Trig Posted July 29 Author Posted July 29 Its been fine since I followed Chris' suggestion, I'll maybe set one drive as per his and the other per yours and see what happens, although there's been a few updates to the software since I posted this, maybe @Christopher (Drashna) could update? Quote
Trig Posted July 29 Author Posted July 29 Ok, so the setting is system-wide, not drive/controller so both are set as per Chris' suggestion for now, will see if we can get an update. Quote
Trig Posted August 21 Author Posted August 21 I have also now changed the controller from a SuperMicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 card to the onboard SATA headers. Will see how that goes, have removed the Unsafe Direct I/O tick, shouldn't take long for me to start getting errors if something's gonna break.. Are there any decent controllers that work properly with the Stablebit stuff and Windows 11? @Christopher (Drashna) is there a compatibility list as such, or is the software more reliant on what the OS can do/see rather than it being about the hardware? Saphir Posted October 21 Posted October 21 I have exactly the same problem with a WD80EFPX. A WD80EFPX too I bought last year has this problem not. The "Unsafe" option didn't help for me but Lowepy's hint "Ignore Checksum" did help, thanks for that. Trig 1 Quote
