Question

Posted

This is on Windows 11 24H2 with DP version 2.3.10.1661

I created a drive pool with 6 disks, all with drive letters. After reading several posts that claimed Drive Pool doesn't need letters, I removed the letters from the member disks in the drive pool. Drive Pool still shows the disks as members of the pool but all their space is shown as "Other". The free space shown in the drive pool is just the space on the one drive that still has a letter. However, if I assign a letter to one of the disks in the pool, its free space shows up as part of the free space in the drive pool.

I'd like to remove the drive letters from the member disks while only showing the drive pool letter to make navigation easier.

Does it correctly show the space on the disks with no letters if you perform a Manage Pool -> Re-measure after you've removed the letters?

First: Thanks very much for answering.

I'm not sure what happened with this but I put letters back on all the disks then remeasured, which worked, then rebooted, then removed all the letters one by one, remeasuring after each and now it works. Out of curiosity I then added back one letter, then removed it without rebooting and remeasured and it's fine. Go figure.

Previously I had tried remeasuring after removing the letters and it didn't change anything so I have no explanation for what happened. It seems to be working fine now though.
