New motherboard, & O.S. , what to do with DrivePool

falco

Question

So I am building a new "faster" server and wanted to know what the procedure was, regarding migrating the old DrivePool to the new motherboard and OS.

So this is what I was planning,

1: Deactivate DrivePool on the old server.

2: Install the new motherboard & O.S.

3:move old drives to the new Server

3: Install DrivePool on new server & let it do its magic.

Is this correct, and do I have all the Pool hard drives connected when I install DrivePool software on the new server, or connect them one at at time.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Yup, that's pretty much exactly it.

Once StableBit DrivePool is installed, it looks at the disks. If they contain the pool folder structure, then it will attempt to recreate the pool(s) with the available disks.

I would recommend connecting all of the disks at once.  The reason for this is that it won't know that there are missing disks and may try to reduplicate the data needlessly.
