How do I set the number of upload/download threads?

cnrd

Question

Hi

I just installed CloudDrive to do a test run and I keep seeing people talk about Upload / Download threads, but I simply cannot find this feature anywhere in the interface.

Anyone who could screenshot where this feature is?

I'm using Google Drive as my Cloud provider, if that makes any difference.

Thanks

Hey, see the image here

Drive Options > Performance > IO Performance.

Yup, this.

Just keep in mind that too many threads may cause you to be aggressively throttled.

Generally, it's better to lower the number of threads than to increase.  Or at least, increase slowly.

Hi,

I got a problem somehow related to this issue. I found the option for limiting the IOs but no matter what I set, CloudDrive keeps ignoring these limits.

At the moment its set to 3 down- and 3 uploads, but I got sometimes up to 20 uploads open.

this of course results in a lot of IO-Errors and massive throttling.

Is there something known I can try? Where are these limits stored (registry, config file)? Maybe there's a possibility to check if the settings are set correctly...

Thanks in advance

Beimer

Looks like you're not the only one experiencing this.

Could you enable both trace logging and web logging:

http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_CloudDrive_Drive_Tracing

http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_CloudDrive_Web_Logs

And try to minimize the logs. The less that is going on, the easier it is for us to go through everything (these are both quite detailed logs).

Okay, this is an issue with the Amazon Cloud Drive API specifically. And this is actually ... entirely normal.

The data is being sent with the request.  That means that the data is sent before we get a response.  So if/when we get a throttling or "HTTP 429" response, the data is essentially "wasted" because it's ignored.  We then have to retry, again and again until it works.

Because of this, we show the 100+% percentage because we have resent the data REPEATEDLY at this point.

So this isn't really a bug, but ... essentially poorly written API ... both on their and our parts.
There also, isn't a great way to handle this .... Alex has an idea but basically it's sending two requests per upload, one to make sure that we can, and then a second to actually upload.

If you haven't already, could you open a ticket for this at https://stablebit.com/Contact

And could you run the StableBit Troubleshooter when this happens?

http://dl.covecube.com/Troubleshooter/StableBit.Troubleshooter.exe

And could you do this:

The Troubleshooter is not working, cant find some files ... maybe a rights management issue but for now i can provide some ErrorReports. You'll find them in the attachement.

Maybe some more information:

When I restart the computer and theres a lot to upload CloudDrive ignores the limits.

But when I then start to download a file, all uploading stops and it seems that I can't get it back to work until Service Restart ...

The limit exceeding seems only to take place when theres a lot data to upload, when I'm filling up the drive in a moderate speed Clouddrive is keeping to the limits ...

All in all a kind of weird behaviour ...

P.S.: Opened Ticket is #3404709
