Folder shares slow to be updated

Question

I've been using drivepool for several months now and everything has been working great so far except some delayed behavior with my shares I'm hoping someone can help me fix.

I can look at a folder on the server where drivepool is running and it shows the contents as they currently are (ie. it's accurate), I can look at that same folder from my computer via a share and its accurate as well.

If something then updates that folder (ie. adds a file, renames a folder, etc) from the server or a different computer I don't see the changes on my computer.  I can refresh the view, close and reopen explorer, but it continues to show the old information.  I have to either wait several minutes or reboot my computer in order to get the share to display the current contents.

During this time I can go to the server where drivepool is running and it displays the correct information.

It's also a bit weird in that it doesn't do it all the time, I would say about 25% of the time I have the issue, though I haven't noticed any pattern to the behavior.

I had the shares set up the same way before drivepool and did not have this issues so I'm making the assumption it's something in the way I have drivepool setup.

Thanks in advance!

The behavior is very irritating and I would really like to get it resolved if possible.

Do I have this in the wrong place?  Do I need to provide additional or more detailed information?  Do I need to open a support ticket?

Thanks!

To be clear, the shares are not showing the data, but the local pool drive is?  At least in some cases.

Could you guys do this:

http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_Q7420208

(do this on the client systems, or any system that is having this issue)

If that doesn't help:

Could you guys enable logging, reproduce this and turn off logging as soon as you reproduce it?

http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_2.x_Log_Collection

Also, are you using any antivirus, backup or disk tools on the server?

Could you post the results of this (done on the server): http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_Q2159701

And do you have Network I/O Boost enabled in the Performance options for the pool?

Bit late to the party here, but try disabling SMB client side caching.

https://bogner.sh/2014/10/how-to-disable-smb-client-side-caching/

If you check the link above, that's exactly what the guide is suggestion (plus some more).

And I mean this link:

I know that this has helped out at least 2 people already.

Thanks for the links guys.. going to try it on the machine I'm having issues with as well.

By the way Drashna the command line should have /t instead of /y in the above article.

You're absolutely right. Type offset, I suspect.... Fixed.

And I've actually run into this issue myself, and this does seem to fix the issue.

(I've also cheated and implemented a GPO to apply this to *all* of my computers)
