WHS2011user
Can you move a disk from one SATA port and/or drive letter to another without DrivePool getting confused? I can power down the server if that makes it easier for DP. I couldn't find any mention of this in this forum. Thanks
0 JazzMan
Yes. DP does not care how or where the drive is physically connected; it uses the hidden poolpart folders to recognize the drive. I believe if your system allows hot-swapping, then you should not have to shut down the physical server of DP service..
0 WHS2011user
Thanks for your help! BTW, I figured that was the answer since Covecube puts some thought into the software they design. Christopher (Drashna)
0 Christopher (Drashna)
Yup, exactly. Even if the drive does support hot swapping, you may want to set it as "offline" prior to removing it to ensure that nothing is writing to the disk. Once it's moved, set it back as "online" and you should be good to go. (both of these are done in Disk Management, or similar utilities, and the offline disk will show up as "missing" until it's set back as online).
