firebretha
So this beast of a server had the motherboard kick the bucket. So I have been trying to figure out what to do. My plan is to pickup a Qnap to replace the server but of course currently all my files are in drivepool on the hard drives. I have a Win7 PC that I could install all the drives into. Can I install drivepool onto Windows 7 desktop, run the drivepool recovery program to setup the pool on the win7 pc?Thanks in advance! firebretha
0 Christopher (Drashna)
Well, I'm sorry to hear about your mainboard dying, as that is never a pleasant experience. As for the QNAP, just be careful with that. The hardware is usually very low end, and may not be suitable for a lot of streaming (but YMMV), additionally, it does use RAID type arrays, IIRC, and recovery may be a PITA. As for the pool, that works. But there is no recovery program. You just install the software, connect the disks and it automatically recreates the pool. And from there, you can then move the contents off and onto the QNAP device.
