rimmon1971
Hi all, Italian Drivepool newbie here. Windows 10 Pro x64, Drivepool 2.1.1.561 stable x64 (should I "upgrade" to Beta version, BTW?) 2Tb USB drive with 700Gb occupied, another 2Tb drive should arrive soon (I really need mirror!). I've just added the first 2Tb drive (disk G: from now on) to the pool with default options (drive F: from now on). Now disk F: is empty, should I simply cut&paste files from G: to F:? When the 2nd 2Tb drive will arrive, I'll add it to the pool and start setting top-level folders duplication policy as needed, isnt'it? Thanks a lot in advance from cloudy&rainy Italy Best regards
0 Christopher (Drashna)
Either version should work fine. Though, I'd recommend the public beta build. And yes, this can be done "online". The only caveat here is that any program accessing the data should be stopped first. I will: upgrade the software to beta add 2nd 2Tb drive to the system, leaving it outside the pool use 2nd 2Tb drive for backup purposes perform the actions described in "Seeding Guide" against the 2Tb drive already "pooled" verify pooled data on 1st 2Tb disk format 2nd 2Tb disk add it to the pool set desired replication level for specific directories inside the pool And yes, this all looks fine. 0 TwoEdge
Hi there, i'm new to Drivepool too and succesfully used the method described here http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_Q4142489 for my drives with existing data. Also i would suggest to upgrade to beta because windows 10 support was added with .636* [D] Windows 10 support. I'm using 2.2.0.651 and I am pretty happy so far. 0 Christopher (Drashna)
Welcome! If you're using Windows 10, then we do recommend using the beta build, as it does include Windows 10 support (along with a bunch of bug fixes). As for the existing content, the "seeding guide" that TwoEdge has linked is the best way to add the contents. 0 rimmon1971
Thanks to everybody. Ok for the upgrade, can this be done "online° or should I uninstall the stable version first? I will: upgrade the software to beta add 2nd 2Tb drive to the system, leaving it outside the pool use 2nd 2Tb drive for backup purposes perform the actions described in "Seeding Guide" against the 2Tb drive already "pooled" verify pooled data on 1st 2Tb disk format 2nd 2Tb disk add it to the pool set desired replication level for specific directories inside the pool
