SMART not showing up for WD MyBook 3TB Drive

PossumsDad

Question

I have 16 drives in my DP Pool. All of my drives but one have SMART data. I added a Western Digital 3TB MyBook External drive to the pool tonight. The drive is USB 3.

I have plugged the drive into my USB 3 card & also into the USB 2 slots on the motherboard. I get no SMART data from either location.

I am running Windows 8.1 with 8 gig of ram. I am running Scanner version v2.5.1.3062

Any help would be appreciated.

Phil

Could you update to the public beta build?

https://stablebit.com/Scanner/Download

It should be version 2.5.2.3100

If that doesn't help, then there are a couple of advanced settings to try:

http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_Scanner_Advanced_Settings

First, try enable the "NoWmi" option in the "SMART" section.

Reboot the server or restart the "StableBit Scanner Service" (run "services.msc" to do so).

If that doesn't help, try enabling the "Unsafe" option in the "DirectIo" section.

Again, reboot or restart the service after enabling this option.

If neither work, then let us know.

I enabled advanced settings & enabled "NoWmi" in my current version of scanner. SMART data is now showing up for the new drive.

Thank you very much for your help.

Phil

P.S. Is there any advantage upgrading to the current beta over my version? "v2.5.1.3062"

I'm glad to hear it.

And I had a feeling that the NoWmi option was going to help (it's fairly common on WD drives, for some reason, but not on a significantly high number).

As for upgrading to the beta, there is a list of reasons, actually.  The biggest is if you want to use StableBit CloudDrive. We disable the surface scan on those drives by default (otherwise, it's downlaoding and reading the entire CloudDrive, which may impact your network connectivity and any data caps you may have).

Otherwise, you can find a list of changes here:
