Hi,

 

Does anyone know if there is any way to set drivepool to notify on duplication warnings?

 

Unless I keep an eye on it by regularly logging in and checking, I don't know if there are any (for example) warnings of misduplicated files that need resolving. I can't see any way of adding this to the warnings email facility - it appears only to have "Notifications for missing disk".

Unfortunately, we don't have a great feedback system implemented into StableBit DrivePool. This is the next big thing we are planning on changing in the product, and hopefully we will be able to do so very soon.

No, it definitely wasn't just you. And as I said, hopefully, we can get this into DrivePool in the near future.

Can I please second this?  I bought DrivePool thinking it would notify me.  Otherwise I may have stuck with poxy Win7 software RAID (worked fine apart from the lack of notifications).  Is there an ETA or release that it's planned for in your roadmap?

 

Or does DP notify differently on disk failiure?  I'm sure I saw a disk offline notification once.  Really can't remember very well, it was ages ago while I was trialing it.  Or perhaps I just launched Drivepool at one point without realising (while I had removed a drive from the pool) - dunno...

 

I've spent many hours over the last few days investigating wierd behaviour on some of the packages I've compiled that went away after I resolved the ducplication warning that I was unaware of.  Really odd that the unacknowledged notification interfered with writes to the virtual package registry file (while allowing the file writes successfully), but its a pretty far out scenario/conflict.

the notification overhaul is the very next thing we want to get done (IIRC).  Aside from that, no, we don't really have a roadmap.

 

 

However, right now, DrivePool does email you in the case of a missing drive. But that's about it. 

 

 

 

As for the issue, I'm not exactly clear on what's going on there. 

Could you enable file system logging and reproduce the issue:
