MISSING DATA but drive still shows usage

LUZR

Question

I was replacing 2x4TB with a 8TB drive.

I copied all of my data from those 2 drives to the 8TB. I did not add the 8TB to the pool.

I removed the 2X4TB from the pool. I then shut down the PC, removed the 2X4TB from the system.

I booted the system and now 1 of my drives was removed from the pool (NOT BY ME). It is showing 1.13TB Free of 3.63TB but there is no data on the drive or a "poolpart" folder.

The new 8TB drive I added with data already that was not added to the pool, no longer has the data I added and now showing
(PoolPart.63aece97-8a84-4a72-96d9-fa19404e084a) and (Anime) which are not readable.

I stopped doing anything else on that PC in hopes that it can be fixed. Not sure what happened but a few hours later I checked my server and the NEW 8TB drive I added (Not to the pool), some how the broken "ANIME" file turned back to a working MEDIA folder with all the data on that drive.

It still has the broken "PoolPart.63aece97-8a84-4a72-96d9-fa19404e084a" Should I try and delete that?

The other drive that removed itself from the pool is still showing 1.13TB Free of 3.63TB and there is nothing showing on the drive and the "poolpart" is still missing.

Any help is appreciated. I am new to Stablebit and was testing it out before purchasing. This happened to me last month also when I was swapping out 2X4TB for a 8TB.

THANK YOU

How did you copy the data over?

If you copied the "PoolPart" folders directly, then that would cause this sort of behavior.  There is some hidden metadata that is stored on the disk, and can't just be copied over.  You need to add the disk to the pool, and migrate the data that way.

Worst case, you should be able to do this:

While, this guide isn't strictly for your issue, it's close enough that it should work just fine.
