I started to "lose" files a couple of weeks ago, and rebooting or powering down the machine would then bring them back. The drive never disappeared, but some files in some folders would. While the reboot/power down worked before, this has not happened today so I'm at a loss for now. The Drive pool error files noted above are encrypted, so I am unable to see what they are but I suspect a disk is in failure mode, about to fail, or it's a loose SATA connection? Has anyone seen anything similar? Windows sees no drives in error

I have two machines with data that I'd like to access as one, without UNC or mapped drives. Is it an absolue necessity? No. Just trying to make it convenient for the other programs to see the machines as one big data set. I heard of a couple of products that can add network shares to pools, but am not sure if that is the route I want to go without exploring all that DrivePool can do.

Hello, I had asked this question in the cloud drive forum... the short version is, can you pool two machines together? and it was suggested to try my luck here instead. I'm sure the answer is "no", but can I pool two different machines together into one pool? I know I can do this: create pool --> place pool in virtual cloud drive --> place cloud drive into pool on second machine because I did exactly that. However, if I have existing data on the pool, that does not get reflected in the cloud, it can only use the empty space to create the virtual drive. If it is possible to see the existing data in a pool in a cloud drive, I'd be interested in knowing how to do that. Thanks, TD

You're right, sorry, it was a long day. I had pooled one set of disks, then placed that into a virtual cloud drive, and then placed the cloud into a pool on the other machine. However, the cloud drive would only use the empty space on the disks, not the pool. C'est la vie. I have iSCSI on my QNAP but it's only a four bay machine so I don't have physical room anyway.

Yeah, that's the extent of it... I saw a note on the DrivePool forum that you can use CloudDrive to pool two separate pools together, but the fundamental part I guess does not occur is for the existing data to be accessible at the get-go instead of having to transfer it into the new virtual drive. This is what I did originally... take six disks and pool them together on a Windows 10 PC and called the drive "Bear", with a share called "cub" (names are made up here). On another machine I have another six disks pooled together into a drive called "Horse". On this same machine, I used CloudDrive to take the share "cub" and place it into a new virtual drive called "Eagle". "Eagle" is then pooled as an additional drive on "Horse". However, I cannot see the data from "cub" on "Horse". New data, yes, but not the stuff that's already there. i was hoping CloudDrive would be a way of pooling two DrivePools from two separate machines together AND see the data that already exists on both, but that does not seem to be the case.

Hello, I have had Drivepool for about a year now and have just installed a second copy on another physical machine. Each machine has ~12TB of data on it. is it possible to use CloudDrive to put the two pools together if data already exists on each? I am thinking of creating a 1TB cloud on machine ONE, pointing it to a Windows share on machine TWO. Then, I want to add the CloudDrive to to the pool on machine ONE... will that show me the existing data from TWO in the pool on ONE? Can the clouddrive be smaller than the data on TWO?
