just installed WSE2012R2 in one of my microservers, used my workgroup name as domain name. till now everything seems to run well. i only noticed i'm not able to connect to my second server (running WHS2011) but it works the otherway arround. i've added the user on the WHS2011 server and gave him admin right. or am i missing something ?

If setting up the domain would it be smart to use the same name as I use with the others as workgroup ? So workgroup would be for example "myworkgroupname" Should I choose "myworkgroupname" as domain ? I want to use the server mainly as file server for my media. Mysql db for my shared Kodi db. And some mono, python programs I run.

Did you disable your license before upgrading ? That's what they suggested when I asked about the upgrade.

I got 2 HP N54L MicroServers running both WHS 2011 and Stablebit DrivePool and Scanner, thinking of switching to WSE12R2. first starting with 1 server and perhaps later the second server. but what i wonder will it give issues having 2 servers running WSE12R2 beeing that it runs as domain ? i once tried WSE12R2 but didn't like the domain stuff and had some issues with the share parts. (WHS 2011 is much easier and faster setup with setting up shares.) but perhaps i should give it another try and try out the domain stuff. also when switching should i first disable the license or can i switch without any issue ?

how would the upgrade work ? if i got now a running 1..xxx running and i would like to upgrade to 2.xxx
