  1. I am trying to move my server 2012r2 essentials client computer backup folder to a local server using cloud drive file share. The essentials server is a VM on Hyper-V and the storage server is FreeNAS stand alone (not virtualized) machine. Both are also connected to the network at 10Gbit. Now either I have something setup wrong (always a possibility) or essentials does not like something about cloud drive for this use case. The problem I am experiencing is VERY slow transfers. The folder has been moving for over 24 hours and has only moved about 494GB to the server with aprox 900+GB to go. I have download and upload threads set to 5 (originally default of two) with background I/O checked. Cache size is set to minimal (not sure if that is a good setting). I left all settings at default when I created the cloud drive. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Mass drive removal

So I decided to remove 5 out of 10 drives from my pool (old 2TB greens) and I noticed something I thought was strange. Even though I have 5 drives marked for removal drivepool seems to be moving data onto the drives marked for removal. Not sure if this is suppose to be happening or not. If so I guess this would be a suggestion for future update to have it stop using drives marked for removal. Not that this negatively affects the pool, it just adds a huge amount of time when drivepool has to repeatedly remove the same data from each drive.
  3. I have the same problem. Weird how they think that way. "what's wrong with playon" or "why isn't plex working". Less of an issue these days since I went to a dedicated VM for each of them, but in the beginning. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk
  4. I will let you know if I figure somthing out. A little curious about your server spec, wondering if there is somthing similar that would cause this. I am running a dual cpu Asus server board (Z9PE-D16) with 32GB of ram per cpu. Doubt it would be a hardware issue but always possible, maybe somthing that windows server doesn't like. 5. Very good to know, thanks for the correction. Makes me even more interested in it now. I have been thinking about replacing my current VM drive four 1tb re4 with ssd's but could not justify the cost to get even half the space with redundancy. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk
  6. I have a similar setup, Dell perc h310 to an Intel sas expander. I could probably live without it as well but is more of a frustrating why is this not working sort of thing. Also, I think deduplication needs gen2 (don't know much about it yet) and I would like to try it. Have 9 VMs and 6-7 I think would benefit from it. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk
  7. Did you find anything sspell, I tried for a long time to figure it out but could not come up with anything. Admittedly I am far from an expert with hyper-v, more of a hobby. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk
  8. Lol, my 30TB seems oddly insufficient now. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk
  9. I had a similar problem with a gen2 machine and never could get it figured out. No problems however with a gen1 machine. In my case it definatley wasn't drive pool. Even without drive pool installed it did this. If you add the drive while machine is running it works fine, but first time you reboot it gets stuck in some sort of loop and keeps rebooting it self. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk Oh and it does this with win 8.x VMs as well. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk

    Scanner on Host or guest

Done, thanks again for all your help.

    Scanner on Host or guest

Well I did buy another license, to find out that I already had a second scanner license. Is there an easy way for me to unregister the license that I forgot about so I can use it on another computer?

    Scanner on Host or guest

Well never mind lol, just tried enabling unsafe io and guess what, I am getting SMART data now. Admittedly, last time I tried was a long time ago, when I had to edit a file to enable unsafe io. Thanks for the poke on trying that again Drashna.

    Scanner on Host or guest

Dell perc H310 now, which I believe is still an LSI based card. No I could not get the data, but that was several years ago, so might try again.

    Scanner on Host or guest

Ok, so best bet for me is to install on the guest since I have never been able to get smart data from the drives, not sure if it is the raid card or sas expander. Thanks for the help. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk
  15. So, I am wanting to reinstall stablebit scanner and have a slight dilemma. The machine that the pool is installed on is on is a Hyper-V VM. Should I install scanner on the VM or on the Host? Does it even matter? Any help appreciated.

    Hyper-V

Ok, thank you very much for looking into it on your end to, was hoping it wasn't a problem with my server.

    Hyper-V

I am having a problem where I can not add more than 1 physical disk per scsi controller on a Gen2 2012R2 guest. Unfortunately I need to add 14 drives for the pool. The machine start gets to 10% and just stops. It retry s 2-3 times and quits. Probably would not be a problem to me if they were not the pool drives. I have tried googling this issue and found nothing (Not that I seen anyways). Any suggestions would be great. edit On a side note, if I create a gen1 machine and create an IDE drive for the os and attach all the physical drives as SCSI everything seems to work. I can do this and will if I cant figure it out as I dont think there is any performance hit gen1 to gen2 with what I am doing...it is just driving me crazy not figuring out why it is failing like this. Another fun bit, if I add the drives while the VM is running they are all recognized and DP begins checking. As soon as the VM is reset back to the same problem.
  19. I bought a license for whs2003 years ago, according to a ms Rep when I called in having problems they thought it was a technet key I was sold. If I knew then what I know now I would not of called. Either way ms Rep didn't do anything about it lol. Just more of a warning about buying from eBay. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk
  20. Did the new version work for you?
  21. It is working now. Turns out there was a bug and they fixed it. Thanks stablebit.
  22. sure, whenever you would like, I probably have something messed up somewhere
  23. It is selected, for my setup anyways.
  24. @Bricki thanks for the advice, will check the drives when I get home today. This is also on a always on 2012 r2 essentials vm. @Drashna I checked the addons download area last night and I have the same version. I also installed the beta for drive pool last night to see if it made a difference but it did not. It actually filled the feeder drives and when I tried to move a 30GB bluray rip to the pool it said there was not enough room on the drive. After that I removed the feeder disks and it cleared them like it should. After re-adding them and setting them back to feeder disks I tried moving the same file and same result, both disks are around the 30GB mark. After the file was done copying it quickly came up that it was balancing but after about a second went back to the pool normal green bar. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk
  25. Did you solve this problem? I ask since I am having the same problem, I think I have things set how you were told but. If you did solve this I would appreciate how you seeing how you did it. Thanks
