  1. Thanks Chris, I did that and when it restarted two drives, U:\(Bay7) and V:\(Bay8) were the only 2 not automatically back in the pool. U:\ added fine, but V:\ won't add still (same error). V:\ contains two folders: PoolPart.0e0bba01-fb9a-485c-9ea7-e6923e697750 and PoolPart.2a171a06-779d-4d50-ac16-dcab65358701, U:\ contains one folder PoolPart.81e0a870-a269-4ae9-a4e0-9d3be96a8444, I only have one other drive with two folders, W:\(Bay9) and these are named the same as those in V:\ which seems to have been the error. They both had a tiny amount of files in one, loads in the other so have copied the data to the larger folder in each, then moved the Pool folder and the .coverfs folder in there to a new Old folder on the root of the drive. This has let me re-add the drive. I think I had lost one of them on a re-boot and the software has somehow mixed the two and created new folders for the other drive on each one. Looks right now but will see if it runs right later on tonight.
  2. Morning all, cleaned my home server the other day including taking the drive caddies out and blowing the dust from them. When I rebooted and Drive Pool said a drive was missing. I can see it in File explorer and it is fine according to Scanner, but for some reason after removing from the pool it won't let me add it back as it says it is the same drive as another one. I may have mixed it up with another drive as I reconnected them, though that doesn't make sense as they are both named and lettered in a logical order to match the bays. Have tried rebooting with it and the two each side also disconnected, removing the three from the pool and then rebooting and reconnecting, the two removed came back in without re-adding, the other one still will not add. Any suggestions on what to try next would be appreciated.
  3. Thanks for that Spider and sorry for the slow reply. I have successfully shifted round all my drive letters now and raised Drivepool up to E:\ . It was very OCD, but I wanted to have the array in the same order of letters as bay numbers. I have also manually juggled files whilst setting up to create a rough balance. With the continual balancing I am not looking to use an SSD cache at all, just want Drivepool to balance on adding data then leave drives dormant if that makes sense.
  4. New user here who is keen to move to DrivePool and SnapRAID from FlexRAID as it seems more transparent and better supported. On a trial for DrivePool and Scanner at the moment and have hit a couple of areas that I would like to get a bit of advice on before going any further: 1. The initial Drivepool setup has chosen a drive letter that I want to change. I have now filled the pool quite a bit, and added a couple of shared folders, is it still as simple as making the adjustment in Disk Management or do I need to follow a more complex procedure? 2. When changing drive letters (or any other disk tasks) do I need to exit DrivePool or Scanner? To close either down is there anything more to it than the top right X as Scanner still seems to show notifications after the window is closed, but there is no right click menu in the notification tray icon. 3. When cutting and pasting folders round inside a drive pool, am I right in thinking by default it keeps the files on the same drive and just moves them to a matching folder on that drive? Interested as the moving seemed instant at the time. 4. Given my intended setup of using with SnapRAID, I do not want the drives changing the location of existing data regularly. What I would ideally like to do is run a balancing process once when the majority of my data is moved across, then have Drivepool only balance new data it is adding. What would be the best method to achieve this? I can see the Disk Space Equalizer plugin which I am guessing installing, running then removing will get the balance sorted, what is the best settings for the balancing after that? Thanks in advance for any advice
