  1. ...hmmm, ok...final try HP iLO lets you (read-only) mount a local folder as a USB mass storage device, AFAIK. I don't know how you export the key initially, but this would involve the ability of copying the key from the stick to a local folder.
  2. Well, all removable media I know of, that can be injected/mounted via IPMI is at least of type USB...although being of correct subtype floppy or cdrom, not of type disk/stick. Also, entering the key manually via IPMI remote console on that server is also not an option (sorry, but I don't use bitlocker feature, all my servers are linux, encypted with LUKS/dmcrypt)?
  3. ...maybe an arrow into the blue...but as the key is a static file, where you only need read access...does it *have* to reside on a USB stick? If your server got an IPMI feature you could remotely mount a disk-image or an ISO holding the key during boot, then easily "remove" it afterwards.
  4. ..just to report that snapraid works very nicely for my setup. I have configured an iSCSI target on my ZFS-NAS and did set this up inside my Win7 box to serve as parity for snapraid on my pool-drives. This works perfect for me, with the parity disk being part of my ZFS Array where it gets advanced availability through my online Raid setup and it is also included in my backups.
  5. ....I actually did not realize that the OP is asking about migrating from DriveExtender to DrivePool
  6. +1..if you have the cables running through the house, this is much nicer than using powerline, since the coax cable is shielded (so less pollution from the "radiating" wires in your home). Unfortunately, with a home cabled for digital SAT TV, this will not work, since the signal will not traverse through the SAT-switch. Some SAT-switches offer a inbound-connection for a landline/cable-coax wire but you will need to feed it directly into the switch. In 90% of homes, the switch is near the SAT-dish, but your broadband connection is elsewhere and connecting the LAN side of the MoCA is not possible hence.
  7. ...this strategy sounds like it is putting some unnecessary stress on the drives, with adding drives one-by-one, copy over data and possibly later duplicate or re balancing the pool. AFAIU you want to swap OS and keep the pool as it is. Not knowing what WHS will do with the existing pool-drives upon install, I'd move the pool disks out of the box for safety, install the OS, install DrivePool driver/SW, add the disks back in and import the pool. ...assuming you do have a working offline backup of your data, that is
  8. ...can't tell..google is your friend...I am still running a couple of the 2TB models in my NAS, on ZFS and forced them to align sectors to advanced format, but I never cared what they show/report as they were/are running fine..
  9. AFAIR these older EARS-models lie about their true sector size....regardless of the jumper...it'll be dependent of model/size and firmware version.. Edit: the jumper sets the offset for sector alignment by 512bytes...it'll not change how the disk reports logical and physical sector size.
  10. Well..I simply assumed that this would apply to a pool holding "static data", like a box serving recordings, movies, mp3 files, where each file would not be changed or moved around a lot....and where SnapRaid would run only after files have been addedd...daily, at most maybe. In another scenario I'd simply would not use SnapRaid and go for a real filer.
  11. As SnapRaid is offering offline parity, in what context does it matter if the pool is balanced in any way or state? I'd say, as long as all files are covered in the SnapRaid sync, you will be able to recover them...redo balancing after a restore later, if need be.

    Beta Updater

..I am seeing the same. My install started fresh with .320..the "update available" popped up but I declined/closed the dialog...never popped up again it since then...finally, I upgraded manually.
  13. FWIW ...just found a free alternative to LightsOut...it's not packed with that many features but it offers watching over/monitoring files, which the community-edition of LightsOut does not offer. This is called ObServer, see: http://observer.dk2.de/ The Website is in german only, but google does a good job in translating it.
  14. Thank you for the fast reply. That sounds like a feasible solution...I'll dig further into that and try. regards, p3x-749
  15. Hi, new User and Windooze noob here. I am currently experimenting with my new purchase of DrivePool V2 and my Win7-HP-64bit host. PowerManagement is configured to suspend the box after a certain time of inactivity, which works well. Now I noticed that, even when there is heavy disk activity from DrivePool (like removing a disk) the host will go into suspend. It seems DrivePool is resuming the task after a wakeup, but I would have expected that DrivePool would prevent the host from suspending until the task(s) have completed. ...is this a bug or a feature request ? regards, p3x-749
