How can i tweak DP so it doesnt delete the files of the hdd i remove?

I'm removing a drive from the drivepool and is removing the files too while copying them to the new hdds, i would like to keep the data on the old hdds too i remove as cold backup. Is this possible? Can i stop drivepool from deleting my old hdd while copying its files to the new one?

Should i wait to finish measuring before i start removing old hdds and have drive pool copy the files to the new hdds? Also it gave me a duplication warning before measuring. But i dont want to have duplicated files, should i click duplicate now to go away or leave the warning alone? If i click duplicate now will it start duplicating files like copying them 2 times on my hdds?

Like playing far cry 5 which uses a lot of cpu ram and gpu resources. Is it safe to do it? Copying 8tb to another drive can take up to 24 hours and i would like to still use my computer for other stuff. Dont want things to break while doing it though. What do you guys think?

i mean in the case scenario one hard drive goes bad from the pool with the new hdds, now i dont know which data i'm missing, so i pull up my old hdds and copy over everything to the pool skipping existing files instead of overwrite them. that's the idea i had in mind and can understand, if there's abetter way and you guys can provide me step by step instructions that would be great!

Thank you Chris, i'm kinda still confused, i hope it doesnt come to it lol. I was thinking copy all files from old hdds to the new pool and skip existing files, is this a good idea?

I plan to move my drive pool to new hard drives. If one of the new hard drives fails how can i recover the data from the old hard drives? I assume i would have to put the old hdds back into the drive pool but hown can i have the drive pool check the old hard drives and copy the missing data to the new hard drives?

Thanks i found out the 10tb elements hdd is using the 3.3v pin to spin it down and when connected internally to a computer the computer doesnt use that signal so it cannot spin down. Why wd makes things complicated, i tried so hard to find me a10tb air hdd and now i was forced to buy a helium so my computer doesnt sound like jet engines.

Thanks for the info umfriend. Does it matter what size the hdds are when moving the drivepool? I read in other posts that it does but cannot understand why.

Turns out my problem was windows fast startup. It's all good for now. But if anyone knows how to activate staggered spin up on the highpoint rocket 750 card please let me know, will come handy eventually.

Copy the pool folder from individual hdds, or use the drivepool software to remove the hdds while moving the pool. Should i do 1 hdd at a time or all of them at the same time?

i just found out part of my problem is "windows fast startup" where your computer doesnt really turns off and when you power on it goes fast into windows without allowing time for my drives to load. i just disabled fast startup and see if this fixes my problem.

It does it only some times and a simple restart fixes the problem. My psu is 1600w evga and i'm using 16 hdds. There was never a beeping problem before i started using the splitting cables. Are the splitter cables the problem or that my psu cant handle more than 4 hdds per 6 pin port?

I have connected it to a Rocket 750 hba card and cant get it to spin down through windows or highpoint software. Is there a wd software that can spin it down?

i was going to buy a seagate expansion 10tb seeing its price point was way lower than seagate 10tb helium hdds and then i found out it uses a helium baracuda pro hdd. Does seagate has 10tb air hdds like wd?
