  1. Thanks for you replies. I have changed the controller drivers and if that does not help i will try to generate a log.
  2. Hi, i have two computers (servers) that run 24/7 and have the same problem. They crash after about 2 or 3 days. Only thing in common between those two is that both habe DrivePool 2.1.1.561 and Scanner 2.5.1.3062 on them. Besides this, there ist not much happening on these servers. One is mainly a file server, the other run runs a accounting software. Problems startet a few months ago about the same time. Besides windows updates, nothing was changed. I have a few other servers running without drivepool and without problems. One Computer has windows 8.1 running, the other windows 10. When the computers crash, the following happens : Remote file acces does not work anymore, trying to acces a file hangs the remote process. You can still move the mouse and windows around. Some running programs still work, but anything accesing the harddisk will stop the process indefinitely without any error message. You cant shut down or reboot the computer. After a powercycle, everything works again. I am not sure that DrivePool / Scanner is the source of the problem, but i have no other idea. I already removed antivirus software as possible problem source. Can you give me any adive ?
  3. Thanks for the info ! I have a setup with snapraid and different sized disks and i did not manage to configure the automatic balancer to do exactly what i want. I now did it by hand and everything seemed to work just fine !
  4. Hi, I have a folder with duplicated data on my system. Can i just copy parts of the duplicated data from one disk in the pool to another disk in the same pool ? (So from e: \poolpart....\duplicated\folderx to f:\poolpart....\duplicated\folderx ) Do i have to deaktivate the service before or do a re-measure of the pool afterwards ? (I have automatic balancing deaktivated) Thanks
  5. Resetting the settings fixed the issue. Thanks ! The two drives that were reportet missing (F,G) where the ones now listed as Disk 1 and Disk 2.
  6. Hi, I set up my pool with unassigned disk empty. DrivePool assigned driveletters to the disks in the progress. In Windows Diskmgmt.msc i removed the driveletters and assigned mount points to the disks. In DrivePool i added the mount points to a new pool. Now DrivePool is whining anout disks F: and G: missing. The pool is working fine. The missing disks are nowhere listed so i do not know how to remove them.
  7. Thanks for the message, thats what i thought. I now went for the DrivePool & Snapraid combination. That really fixes what is left missing in your software. If you could just expand your interface to integrate the snapraid.exe (and adjust the settings a little) if the user wants parity, it would be near perfect !
  8. Hi, I just set up a new Pool to get rid of Microsoft Storage Space. Its a new Windows 8.1 install. I have used all default settings and am just copying 5 TB of old data. The Disks are filling equally now. However, alle files are scattered over all drives now. So if one drive failes, all data on all drives will be unuasble because some files are missing. I could use file duplication, but i want to use it only on the most important data because of the space waste. Most data ist not that important. I understood that i can change the policy so the drives are filled one at a time. But i would like it better if the drives are filled equally. I want to get as litte data loss from a drive failure as possible. Is there any way to get Files within the same folder to be on the same drive without managing this by hand for each subfolder ? The best way would be to specify a folder, like p:\movies. All subfolders to this folder may be on different diskt, but everything below on the same disk. So p:\movies\movie1 and p:\movies\movie2 may be on diverent dist, but all files and subfolders below p:\movies\movie1\..... must be on the same dist. Another possible complete automatic way would be to specify "A folder whoes contents and subfolders are not bigger than 50 gig must be placed on the same disk" Is there a way to do this ? Thanks for yout time !
