Thank you I'm going to install clouddrive and give it a go.

I know i cant add network drives to the pool and I have to use ISCSI or cloud drive with smb shares. My server currently has no more room to add drives but I have a second server I can use. My question is which solution would be better to use both servers with drive pool. Both servers are running server 2016 so ISCSI is an option i'm just not sure if cloud drive would make it simpler.

I did run the command as I convert the drives. I'm just wondering is there any point converting to refs or am I better off sticking with ntfs for now? This whole thing started because I every now and then get a warning about bad sectors on random drives but they seem to be logical bad sectors as zeroing the drive fixes it and the smart data returns to normal. Maybe im over thinking this and being paranoid.

Just wondering what the best way is to reduce the chance of file corruption. I've got over 100,000 photos (yes wife is camera happy) and I've noticed I will every now and then find a couple that have gotten corrupt. I'm in the process of converting my pool to refs but im not sure if this is the way to go. I've seen some people use SS in mirror then use drivepool for the pooling so they get the self healing of refs. What is the best recommendation? I'm using server 2016 with 17 drives and have 4 converted to refs and dont seem to have the memory leak issue. I also run a couple workstation VMs off the pool.

I'm using corz to calculate file checksums and I'm wondering if it is best to use the drive pool drive or the individual drives to calculate the checksum. Thanks for the help

I made the change last night and so far so good. Had a couple random reboots after making the change but has been working fine all day today so looks to be fixed. Thanks for the help.

Been having a problem with scanner since trying it. Im running WS2012E R2. All the drives connected to the motherboard work fine but the ones connected to my supermicro saslp-mv8 controller give smart errors for 1 or 2 seconds at random times. This causes scanner to empty the drive even though the drive is fine. I have seen it when this happens, scanner will sudenly say the drive is failing it triggers an evacute then the smart data returns to normal. Is this a known issue with this controller or is there something I can do to fix this. Thanks Roger
