0 dbailey75
yep, if you want to do a direct replacement of a smaller drive for a larger drive, and you have enough room in the pool, you can remove the smaller driver, DP removes the data from the smaller drive, and allocates to the other drives in the pool, when done, power down the server, replace with the larger drive, boot it back up , add the new drive to the pool, I would reboot here again, just me it may not be required. and once your backup again, you can rebalance, or depending on hiow you have it setup, drive pool will add data to the new drive based on your balancer settings. also, If you have enough sata ports, and HDD bays, you can certainly install the new drive first, and then remove the smaller drive second. 0 chrisschauer
Thank you for the answer! I'll follow your steps to replace the disk. I had enough ports free, so I add first the new disk to get sure that there is enough free disk space!
