With larger pools the difference between the balance ratio of 99% and 100% actually equates to a large amount of data. In my case 664GB

 

This leads to the pool not balancing for potentially a long period and leaves the ssd drives with significantly reduced space - so a new copy of a large amount of data to the pool can lead to issues.

 

So can we have a more granular control of the % at the top end - can't think anybody uses anything less than 90-95% on the balance ratio - so 0% to 100% is a bit overkill

Well..

 

100% means that if there is any data that needs to be balanced, it will balance.  So, if the slider is set to this, it's very aggressive.

 

Otherwise, this is what the "or if at least this much data needs to be moved" option is for.

ah yes the second option was unchecked for some reason - probably when i was trying something out

 

The first point was that 1% is a lot of data and needs more options e.g. 99.1,99.2 ... etc

Well, if I remember, that's why the size option was added, actually.
