Change provider/move data from network share to FTP?

Crill24

Question

Hello,

I don't think this is possible, I'm assuming because of the differences between FTP/network share communication, but I'll ask anyway. Is it possible to move/transfer a provider type from file share to FTP? Or vice versa? I mean detach from one provider and simply re-attach to another.

Sorry for the delay.

The File Share and FTP providers do appear to share similar structure, so you should be okay switching them manually.

If you do wish to convert it manually,

Find the "METADATA" file for the provider.  open the file in a text editor.  Find the "ProviderUid" section and change the string it uses.

FTP is 67e2b4db-6ea6-4e44-b924-2d2ed6932125
File Share is 4bb90334-24a6-451a-98d9-46fe05547622

Awesome, thank you; I'm glad this is available.

I'm having an issue though. I've changed the providerUid but the drive is not detected by FTP. I've disconnected from file share, restarted, etc. I can connect to the ftp server without issue and even after the change the drive is still detected as a file share drive. Is there some other change I may be missing? Something that needs to change on the local install of cloud drive?

Ok I see what you mean about re-naming the file structure and such. It's not immediately clear what every file should be re-named to and it looks like corruption is likely. I've just deleted the share and I'm starting over with FTP. Thanks again for your help.
