Scripting Mount & Unmount of CloudDrive

DaveCullen86

Question

Hi All

I have been using the 3 apps together for a good while on my Windows Server 2012 and love the software!

Using drivepool duplication I am safe in the knowledge that my files are safe from drive failure.

Recently with the worry of crypto viruses, I am trying to devise a method where my important files are backed up off site, with no persistent drive mapping which cold also be encrypted if infected.

A friend has given me space on his SFTP server and I have created a drive on my local machine with CloudDrive.

I then run a scheduled backup with Acronis Backup 11 and it works perfectly.

Acronis allows the running of commands / scripts at the start and end of backup jobs, I wondered if I could run a command that allowed the mounting of the SFTP CloudDrive at the start of the backup, then a dismount when the backup is complete.

This way, there is no persistent drive mapping during normal server operation meaning its not susceptible to a crypto viruses until its mounted.... minimising the risk.

Thanks in advance

Dave

We don't support it at the moment,

However:

  1. There is already a pending request to add scripting support to ... well, all of our products actually.
  2. The "read only mode" should be ideal for "cryptolicker" protection, but would require unmounting and remounting every time you wanted to change the mode (eg enable/disable writing).
